This prestigious award recognises our school’s commitment to embedding awareness and understanding within our school.

As part of our application, we included joint projects with our partner school in France, l’École Élémentaire du Chêne in Garidech. This link was first made by Mrs Pond in 2015 in her previous school and she has continued to develop it at Guilden Sutton since September 2019. We regularly send pieces of work, completed in French lessons, such as ‘All about me’ and French Christmas bookmarks.

Our Fairtrade activities in the wider community were acknowledged, as well as our involvement with successful fundraising projects for Ukraine and Comic Relief, aiming to enrich the lives of young people.

International Links

We have been continuing our international links with l’école élémentaire du Chêne in Garidech, France. Pupils from Year 6 composed their own short descriptions about the Christmas traditions they celebrate at home with their families. They wrote about Christmas cards, carols, stockings and decorations as well as typical food such as turkey dinner, mince pies and Christmas pudding. We videoed the children and shared our festive celebrations with our partner school. Joyeux Noël!

In addition, since September 2023, (thanks to a contact of our Chair of Governors, Mr. Parker) Mme Agier Garcia has developed a cultural exchange for our Year 5 class with their equivalent “classe de CM1” of Sévigné school in Marseille, France.

Both schools are working on their French and English (Reading, Speaking, Writing and Listening) using "genuine resources". For example, by sending each other short letters, songs, PowerPoint presentations with photos or videos about the school, information about the pupils and regions as well as examples of typical celebrations in each country: England: Bonfire Night, British Christmas traditions, Easter, St. George’s Day etc. France: “La chandeleur” (Candlemas), “Mardi Gras” (Shrove Tuesday), “Fete de la musique” (Day of Music) etc.
