Welcome to Year 6
Welcome to the Year 6 class page.
As year 6 is the final year of primary school, the children are given many responsibilities; the first being to look after their reception buddy. Each child is given a child in reception to look after and help settle into school life.
Other responsibilities include leading our annual Health Week, the Remembrance Service, organising a Children in Need and either Sports or Comic Relief Charity events as well as setting the example for the rest of the school.
Year 6 will go on different trips during the year: visit a war museum, Crucial Crew where the children learn different life skills, a visit to Chester Zoo, building dens in Primrose Wood and finally...a residential visit to Min-y-don Christian Centre. The children will also have the opportunity to take part in the Bikeability programme.
Here you can find the Year 6 Curriculum Map and Knowledge Organisers for the topics that we cover throughout Year 6.
Homework, that consisits of one maths and English piece each week, will be given out on a Wednesday to be returned by Tuesday.
PE takes place every week on a Tuesday, as well as swimming during the first half of the Autumn Term, gymnastics on Thursday in the second half of the Autumn Term and dance on a Friday in the Spring Term - please wear school PE kits on these days.
Each week, the children participate in a French lesson. To practise their skills, they can access the website 'Linguafun.eu' at home.
The children need to bring in their reading books and logs each day, along with their water bottles.
