This year, the school's Ethos Group (all Year 6 pupils) decided to enter a competition called Chester Cathederal - Canon Chancellor Award 2020.
The challenge was to depict a journey from the Bible using any medium eg collage, video etc. The group decided to make use of the schools 'green screen' and movie making apps, of which they had experienced from Computing lessons.
They split into two groups of eight members and chose a different Bible journey each. The groups wrote their own script, chose actors, directors, camera operators and editors. The whole project was entirely child-led which is quite amazing, especially since they voluntarily gave up their breaktimes and spare time outside of school too.
The outcome of the competition was that Guilden Sutton Primary School's Ethos Group WON! They were competing against several other schools in the county and the school is incredibly proud of them.

What is our Ethos Group?
Our Ethos group gives volunteer interested children an opportunity to look at our Christian values and see how they are reflected around our school. It is also an opportunity for them to develop our Christian distinctiveness within school through raising awareness of ethical thinking and global awareness.
We meet once a week at lunchtime and welcome members of all faiths and none. In the past we have attended conferences and met with people from other schools to share ideas and beliefs. We have held fun competitions and planned an Ethos group collective worship to gather the opinions of all.
Our Christian Values, based on the school’s Vision ‘And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God,’ Micah 6:8 were debated and chosen by the whole community.
It was agreed that they should be:
Love Justice Compassion Wisdom Forgiveness Friendship
With the help of the Ethos group these values underpin the life of the school community and impact on our daily lives.
