Charity - Foodbank
Our school charity is Chester and Ellesmere Port Foodbank. Thanks to everyone for their generous donations. We are now on our 43rd box. They're currently short of: sugar, UHT milk, UHT fruit juice, tinned meat and vegetables and sponge puddings.
“The Foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.
We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK, although we are a local Charity in our own right, needing to raise substantial funds to keep going each year.
Our Christian vision supports the character and moral development of all. We are able to explore big questions like hunger and the needs of others through loving and compassionate eyes. The whole school community supports the Foodbank. There is a central collection point in the school entrance and at St John's Church; Foodbank staff come and collect our food donations regularly.
Parents and grandparents are invited to bring any donations when they visit for school for Reverend Heather's Collective Worship. A big thank you to everyone for their generous donations!
